![]() ![]() Other citrus notes of grapefruit and orange rind are present, but certainly more bitter than juicy and sweet. S: Complex nose with notes of melon and tangerine. Translucent with some sediment floating at the bottom of the glass, but not completely opaque like some of the haze bombs. Ī: Pours a golden orang color with roughly two fingers of white foam, nice lacing as the foam begins to dissipate. ![]() Jul 18, 2021Įnjoyed in a 16oz snifter on 7/28/21, canned on. For what they were aiming for, I suppose they got it right, however, not for me. I don’t like lactose in IPA and this one is my fault for not reading the info on the can before buying it. Too sweet overall with a boozy finish that makes this a bit of a chore to drink. The carbonation was moderate to easy going. Nevertheless, this doesn’t quite feel like enough to counteract the cloying lactose sweetness.įull bodied with a frothy, soft and creamy mouthfeel. Tempered somewhat by a resiny bitterness as well as grassy and piney flavors. Very sweet with milky lactose creaminess and sweet alcohol spices. Loads of juicy and big fruity hops flavors evoking notes of mango, papaya, passion fruit and guava. And then there is that lactose aroma, projecting its milky sweetness on the nose. Juicy aromas of tropical fruit, including mango, papaya, guava and passion fruit amidst a malt base that evokes honey and caramel. A thumb length creamy head shows good retention and lacing. This would be a great beer to sip on while reading a book or watching a long movie. The qualities of this beer won't fully show in something like a sampler glass. I would recommend at least trying it, but only if you can at least get a full can, bottle, or pour. I could drink it again from time to time and enjoy it but I couldn't drink it regularly. The highlights for this beer are the strong bitterness and the pine-like flavor matched with a wet oak-like character. This is the kind of beer that starts out alright but then grows on you the more you consume it. The can states that this is "augmented with lactose milk sugar" but it doesn't seem to come through in any obvious manner. The alcohol does show through numerous times while drinking the beer, so that should be considered before giving this one a try. I would recommend not using a palate cleanser with this beer for the best flavor experience. There is a woody character that slinks in towards the rear of the sip which is enjoyable, and it lingers on the palate for the next sip if you don't use a palate cleanser. Overall: The beer has a very good bitterness with a focus on pine and woody flavors. The body rests on the lower half of medium. ![]() The strong alcohol flavor hampers drinkability but it never becomes as overwhelming as the bitterness. Mouthfeel: The beer has a nice strong bitterness. The more the beer is consumed the more that woody aftertaste runs into the beginning of the next sip, which is nice. There is a woody aftertaste which tastes a bit like wet oak. Towards the middle there is a strong alcohol flavor, some peach, and even more grain character. Taste: Up front there is pine and a strong grain flavor. There is a light malty caramel-like scent to the beer. It has very good head retention and nice thick clumps of lacing on the glass.Īroma: A big nose of alcohol comes through at first, followed by some pine resin. The head is large and rocky with an off-white eggshell appearance. Most of what is in suspension is very small. It has very good clarity when considering just the beer, but there are a ton of suspended solids. ![]() I don't see a date listed on the can or the label.Īppearance: The body of the beer is a medium shade of amber with slightly dark hints of gold at the edges. ![]()
